Why was this homework so boring? You thought, burying your head in your hands.
“What’s wrong?” There was a voice behind you. It was Ness, your best friend.
Ness was a dragon. She had been close friends with you since childhood, and, like many other dragons in this day and age, was shy, observant and curious around humans. The world hadn’t changed much when dragons had appeared on the Earth. It wasn’t long before they were just accepted as a part of everyday life. Soon they were pretty much considered equal to humans. They took our jobs, mai

“Got everything?” Sapphire asked. I ran through my mental checklist.
Camera? Tick.
Laptop? Tick.
Clothes? Tick. I didn’t really need anything else. Sapphire could conjure up just about anything with magic.
“Yep!” I said, grabbing my backpack and climbing on Sapphire.
This was it. We were about to have an adventure. Everything had gone according to plan. Sapphire was surprisingly good at faking an ‘admittance’ message ‘from my parents’ to the school. I told my par

The alarm clock began playing its annoying tune. Lazily I reached over to my bedside table and smacked the snooze button. 7:00AM. I sighed. It was Monday again; another week of struggling to stay awake in class and being lectured by monotone, robotic-like teachers. There was nothing to look forward to. I rolled back and closed my eyes, when suddenly,
“Wake up lazybones!”
My eyes flung open. There, standing over me, was Sapphire. A grin was instantly spread over my face.

You were awake. You instinctively curl up in a ball. Brrr. It was cold. Slowly you open one eye. You were… home? Yes, you were home, in your snug little cabin. Had that whole thing been a dream, with the storm and the dragon who…? Your thoughts trailed off. You gasp in surprise as your eyes fall onto the other side of the room.
The dragon was in your cabin. Wait, what? A dragon in my cabin? This doesn't happen every day. As if she could hear your thoughts, she wakes up and yawns; a half-growl. You stare into her mouth, realizing you had already made one trip

Birdsong. Slowly you open your eyes… and sigh with content. Today was the last day of your vacation. For a vacation, you had chosen to travel to the rainforests of the Amazon. You had settled in at a small town situated on the edge of a large rainforest looking over a large valley that extended out to the sea. It was perfect; the people were friendly and the place was the most beautiful you had ever seen. For the last two weeks you had lived at a simple, but affordable, humble motel. Every day you went out into the forest, every time with guides. Today was special

You stepped out into the crisp, cold morning air. It was another beautiful day in the mountains. Towering all around you were the huge mountain ranges, topped with snow and peppered with trees. To your left was the dense forest and to your right was the village. The weather was clear and sunny, today would be a perfect day for exploration. You take one last look at the small cabin and begin to hike up the base of the mountains. The wet dirt is quickly replaced by snow, and the trees by rocks.
You had come to the mountains for a vacation. You came alone and had lived i

I jolted upright, my eyes flinging open. In a cold sweat, I looked around frantically, taking deep breaths, panicking.
Again, for the second time tonight, another nightmare. Was this the darkness' doing? I let out a sigh of relief. I was curled up against Sapphire, tucked under her wing. I looked around the camp. Astrid, Kiiro and Luna all lay sleeping peacefully, everyone was here.
" are you okay little one?" Sapphire whispered softly from above me. For once I wasn't startled by her.
"Yeah, I I'm just having some nightmares " I said, rubbing my temples. Quick ins
YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
My eyes flung open. Not again!
I jolted upright in my bed as an annoying mosquito buzzed pass my head. It was the tenth time now! I looked down at my arm, itching my new mosquito bite. My sixth mosquito bite this hour! Sapphire lay against me, sleeping peacefully, oblivious to the irritating buzzing sound. I fumbled in the darkness for my bedside lamb. I found the switch and flicked it on. I scanned my room, looking for any moving black spots. Aha! There it was! In the corner of my bedroom ceiling. I sneaked out of my bed, trying my best not to wake Sapphire. Swiftly, I grabbed two tissues and posit
"What's it like out there?" I asked in my muffled voice, as I lay against the soft fleshy walls of Sapphire's stomach.
"It's beautiful!" she squealed. "You wouldn't want to miss this! C'mon, up you come!"
"Okay then," I replied, sqeezing my head halfway up her throat. She coughed, and the soft stomach walls squished me upwards, out of her gaping maw.
I landed on the hotel carpet with a splat, covered in salive and some stomach juices. I looked at my arms in disgust. Sapphire laughed.
"You look so cute!" she giggled, licking my cheek.
"Ugh, I'm going to get myself cleaned up," I replied, picking myself up and walking to the bathroom door.
